Another $300,000 Grant to Help Village Home Owners

Make Needed Home Repairs

Mayor Bradley Winslow announced that the Village has been awarded a second $300,000 HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) grant from the NYS Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR).  HOME funding is made available to local communities each year to support various affordable housing projects, including rehabilitation of existing homes and apartments and construction of new family and senior rental housing developments.

The primary goal of the Village’s new grant is to expand its current housing revitalization program to the entire Village, using the grant funds to encourage home owners to improve existing one-to-four family houses with badly needed repairs. With the $300,000 just awarded, owner occupied homes anywhere in the Village can be considered for home repair assistance if the owners and any tenant households qualify under certain federal income guidelines.

Eligible improvements include roofs, porches, doors and windows, heating and electrical systems, plumbing, and interior finishes such as floors, walls, and ceilings, depending on the severity of problems found in each house.  Building code items and energy efficiency upgrades will also be considered.

Residents are encouraged to contact the Village’s grant office at 654-7334 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm to obtain information about the program, links to the pre-application and income requirements are below.
