A special meeting of the Village Board was held March 29, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the Village Hall, 244 Main Street.

Mayor Morreale called the meeting to order.

Roll Call: Trustee Enekes, Trustee Halliday & Trustee Kelly were present.  Trustee Denno was excused.

NEW BUSINESS

Clerk-Treas Colson presented the Board with the tentative budget for 2017/2018 which included a tax rate increase to $5.54 per thousand and a $27 per year increase to water/sewer rent.  The tentative budget also required $158,715 to be appropriated from fund balance.   The Property Tax Cap would need to be overridden by local law to pass the budget as presented.

The Board discussed the tentative budget in great detail and requested several changes be made including lowering the tax rate to be under the Property Tax Cap.  The Board also requested no fund balance be appropriated due to the amount of fund balance already earmarked for the infrastructure projects currently under way.  In order to accomplish this, Clerk-Treas Colson was instructed to prepare a budget with all changes requested and the removal of the amount allocated to the special protection contract with Saratoga County Sheriff’s Dept.  The Board requested the updated budget document be available by April 3^rd to allow them to review it before the budget public hearing scheduled for April 5^th.
