New & Replacement Garbage Container Policy

In 2004, the Village of Corinth initiated a new refuse collection system using automated / semi-automated capable containers.  The garbage container is a multi system design, capable of use with both a fully automated arm lift system and a semi-automated “American” bar-locking lifter.

All home/property owners were offered a choice of 3 different container sizes: 32 gallon, 64 gallon and 96 gallon.  A garbage container was distributed one per dwelling.  For example: Single-Family Home – one (1) garbage container, Two-Family Home – two (2) garbage containers.  Additional garbage containers were offered at the home/property owner’s expense.

Once the garbage containers were distributed, maintenance, repairs and or replacement of the containers is the responsibility of the home/property owner.  The Village of Corinth will maintain a small supply of replacement parts, such as, wheels and axles.  The Village will continue to provide repairs to original garbage containers when necessary, feasible, and if parts are available.  Ultimately, the home/property owner is responsible for all maintenance, repairs and replacement of garbage containers.

Replacement garbage containers can be purchased from the Village.  Pricing and sizes are based on inventory, availability & current manufacturer prices.

Original garbage containers should remain with the property even after the sale of the property to a new owner.

All newly constructed homes will receive a garbage container, since a container was not already present.
