Village Board Minutes

March 24, 2026 (58)

A special meeting of the Village Board, budget workshop, was held March 24, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the Village Hall, 244 Main St.

Mayor Miller called the meeting to order.

Roll Call: Trustee Bedell, Trustee Clark & Trustee Stollery were present.  Trustee Kirchhoff was absent.

NEW BUSINESS

Clerk-Treas Colson outlined the tentative budget for 2026/2027 filed March 20, 2026.  The tentative budget is based on a tax rate of $6.21 per thousand.  Input received from the mayorinclude a range of increases to non-Union employee compensation ranging from 2% - 3%; an increase to the Trustee salaries of $150 each; increase to crossing guard payrates of $2.00 per hour; and an increase to the part-time laborer rate of $1.50 per hour.  Increases to the Union employees was set by contract at $0.90 per hour.   Per agreement of the Board members no contributions are planned for Fire or DPW Equipment Reserves.  Total General Fund budget is $3,455,715 with an expected draw from fund balance of $109,940.  Clerk-Treas Colson outlined the largest unknowns in the current proposed budget as the Sheriff Special Protection contract and the insurance costs.  Estimates are included in the tentative budget and will hopefully be finalized before budget adoption.

The Board discussed potential scenarios for negotiation of the Special Protection contract including changing days covered.  The Board also discussed negotiating the Fire Protection contract with the Town of Corinth. 

Motion by Trustee Bedell, seconded by Trustee Clark, approved publication of a public hearing to be held April 15, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the Firehouse, 16 Saratoga Ave to discuss the proposed 2026/2027 budget.
